Ao Prao Beach
Ao Prao is the only one beach on the western side of Koh Samed Island. Not surprisingly, there are, every evening, a number of visitors coming to see sunset view. When combining good view point to peacefully relaxing atmosphere of the beach, it can be seen as a romantic place on Koh Samed Island. Facilities here are not as many as Sai Kaew Beach, because shops and restaurants are only run by a few resorts in the area.
Ao Prao presents the beach in half-circle shape, where the length of the beach is about 400 meters. At the beachfront, there are ofter foreign visitors sunbathing on beach chairs and an swimming in the attractive seawater.
There are three resorts located in Ao Prao Beach:
- Le Vimarn Cottage and Spa Resort
- Lima Coco Resort
- Ao Prao Resort
Although this beach got an oil-leaked problem in 2013, the effect of that incident has completely wiped out within 3-4 months. It means that there is no more black-seawater, but light-blue beautifully crystal clear seawater for years. This beach has actually become one of most peacefully interesting beach on the island
In the evening, restaurants in the area will set dining tables on the beach sand in order to let's visitors to enjoy sunset view while having a meal. Famous restaurants here are Breezre Restaurant, Bagus Cafe, O Restaurant and The Buzz. Visitors, who do not intend to have a meal here, can just have a look to the sunset view at the beach, or at Youth House, which is another location nearby to see the view.
From Ao Prao Beach, visitors can go to other beaches easily, because there is a Songthaew Station next to the beach area, and there are also rental motorbikes available for visitors (just contact the resort). Though, to rent a motorbike here, the price seem to be more expensive than renting at Sai Kaew Beach.

Ao Klang Beach is another beach located on the northern area of the island, not far from Nadan Pier. This beach presents clear seawater with peaceful atmosphere.
